Helping hand for local farmers

Dyke Yaxley are proud to back a support scheme that provides essential grants for local farmers.

Mark Griffiths, our Agriculture Specialist has a wide range of clients across the county farming industry, and we are proud to contribute a £500 donation to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution – a charity that gives confidential help to anyone involved in agriculture.

Mark said: “The RABI offers short term help to working farmers and farm workers often following illness, an accident, bereavement, family breakdown, or animal disease. It also provides long-term support for elderly people and people with disabilities.

“I’m very pleased that Dyke Yaxley has been able to support the fund as it has been a great help to many local farmers in recent years, and we’re very proud to have strong links to such a committed and hard-working industry sector.”

RABI provides advice on state benefits, and grants to pay for winter heating supplements and utility bills, or disability equipment, essential household goods, and hospital travel costs.

Most of its work is funded by public donations, money raised at events organised by local volunteers, and support from businesses and community groups.

Chairman of the Shropshire RABI Committee, Christine Downes, said: “The support of local businesses like Dyke Yaxley is invaluable, and we are so pleased they have been able to make a donation and help raise the profile of this cause that supports our rural community.”

Becky Davies, RABI Regional Manager for the West Midlands, said: “In Shropshire, farmers and farming families of all ages have received over £94,000 in grants in the last year, so donations like this are always very gratefully received.”
