Tom Richards

IT Support Technician

Professional Background:

Tom joined Flex IT as an apprentice in 2015 after completing his A-levels at Shrewsbury Sixth Form College. Prior to joining Flex, Tom gained customer service experience after working as a sales assistant for two years, and also volunteers his time to help people within the local area with their IT or technical issues.

Tom enjoys helping clients solve their IT problems and also enjoys the variety of work, and being able to meet new people on a regular basis.

Tom hopes to complete his apprenticeship with Flex IT and then progress into full time employment in IT.

Responsibilities:

Tom’s main duties include: being the first point of contact on the help desk which means logging tickets and helping clients solve IT issues to the best of his ability.

Tom is also responsible in ensuring client’s backups are successful on a daily basis, and to resolve any issues that may occur with the backups.

Tom outside of work

Tom’s favourite hobbies include: Motorbikes, meteorology and web design.

Tom also volunteers at Pontesbury Broadplace, helping people within the local area who have issues with IT or technology.

Growing up, Tom aspired to become a Policeman.

If Tom wasn’t working at Flex IT, he’d enjoy a career in Meteorology or public services.

Tom’s greatest achievement are completing his A-Levels and securing his apprenticeship with Flex IT.
