Senior Management Accountant


Location:
Shrewsbury (Flexible/Hybrid/Remote options available)
Salary: £50,000–£85,000 FTE, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, minimum 30 hours per week (4–5 days)
Reporting to: Corporate Director at DY


About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join us and take responsibility for the full accounting function for one of our key clients, the League Managers Association (LMA).

The LMA, based at St George’s Park, is the professional body representing football managers from the Premier League, EFL, WSL, and WSL2. Established in 1919, it is a respected organisation in the professional game, providing support and guidance to its members across their professional and personal lives.

In this hands-on role, you’ll provide financial insights, reports, and analysis to support the CEO and leadership team in operational decision-making. You’ll also ensure the integrity and accuracy of the financial data while identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and deliver quarterly management accounts, highlighting variations against budgets and forecasts for Directors and Senior Management

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives

  • Analyse financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities, inefficiencies, and process improvements

  • Perform detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, investment evaluations, and profitability assessments

  • Ensure all accounting processes and reporting comply with relevant standards and regulations

  • Build strong relationships with Directors and department heads, providing full financial support and guidance

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, implement best practices, and enhance reporting efficiency

 

About You

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualified

  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, management accounting, and reporting

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in a corporate or commercial environment

  • Experience with ERP systems (Sage, Xero) and advanced Excel skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders

  • Strong interpersonal skills, adaptable, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure

  • Strategic thinker, balancing long-term goals with short-term priorities
