Our Charity
This year we will be supporting…
Shropshire Wildlife Trust
“Every year we ask our DY team to nominate charities that mean something to them, which is then followed by a vote, with the two most popular becoming our charities for the year.
This year, however, we have decided to put all our efforts into fundraising for one charity and Shropshire Wildlife Trust received the most votes.
Last year, fundraising for Buddy Bag and Shrewsbury Food Hub, we raised over £3,500 for each charity so our target for 2024/25 is to beat this total.
Our CSR team are always busy working on new fundraising ideas to run through the year, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with this time.”
How we've made a difference so far
From 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2024, our fundraising efforts have had a positive impact on our local community. We raised a total of £7,080, which was equally split between two amazing charities, with each receiving £3,540:
The Buddy Bag Foundation
The Buddy Bag Foundation was created to support children who enter emergency care after fleeing violent situations at home. The foundation provides essential items to help restore a sense of safety and comfort during these traumatic times, making the transition into care a little easier for these children.
Shrewsbury Food Hub
Shrewsbury Food Hub is a volunteer-powered charity focused on reducing food waste to protect the environment and strengthen the local community. They collect surplus food from shops, manufacturers, and farms, redistributing it to community groups to help save money. The Hub also encourages food waste reduction at home, inspiring individuals to make a difference within their own households.
Fundraising in 2021-2022
For the period of 2021-2022, we raised £2,972.00, split equally between two worthwhile charities:
Lingen Davies Cancer Fund
Lingen Davies Cancer Fund is dedicated to supporting cancer patients in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid-Wales. Their focus is on improving cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment, as well as supporting those living with and beyond cancer.
Shropshire MHS
Shropshire MHS is Shropshire’s local mental health charity. They provide vital services to those affected by mental and emotional distress, supporting one in four people in the county and their families.
