Our Charity
This year’s charity: Lingen Davies Cancer Support
“We are proud to announce that our chosen charity for 2025 to 2026 is the Lingen Davies Cancer Support. For the next two years, we’ll be fundraising for a cause that has a special connection to our firm and our community.
Many people know Lingen Davies as a vital charity supporting cancer services across Shropshire and Mid Wales, but fewer realise the close links to Dyke Yaxley. The charity was co-founded in 1979 by Bernard Lingen, then Mayor of Shrewsbury, and Frank Davies, a local accountant at Yaxley Davies, the firm that later became Dyke Yaxley. Frank helped raise the initial £1.25 million to build a radiotherapy department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
His dedication left a lasting legacy. Margaret Cooper, who worked closely with Frank during the early fundraising campaigns, and Frank’s son Geoff Davies, who remains part of our team today, continued these strong local connections. Thanks to their efforts, the radiotherapy department opened in 1982, and the charity has since expanded its services, supporting cancer patients across the region.
We’re especially excited to support their £5 million Sunflower Appeal, which will double chemotherapy capacity at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital and improve access to treatment closer to home. This vital development will reduce waiting times and stress for patients, helping to save lives in our region.
We’re proud to support a charity with such deep connections to our firm and our community, and we look forward to fundraising over the next two years to make a real difference to cancer care in our region.”
