Tasty treats on the menu!

Tasty treats were on the menu at Dyke Yaxley thanks to kind-hearted staff.

The team at Dyke Yaxley baked homemade cakes in order to raise cash for our chosen charities of the year.

Jackie Young, who leads the company’s charity fund raising efforts, said: “We had a great response to the idea of a charity cake sale, and we raised over £150 in just one morning.

“The biggest seller was our managing director Laurie Riley’s lemon drizzle cake – it was delicious and I’m sure Mary Berry would have approved!”

The money raised will go towards this year’s charities – Shrewsbury Samaritans and Stay – a Telford charity that helps homeless young people, providing housing and support for individuals and families across the Telford and Wrekin area.

“Every year we nominate a charity or charities and focus our efforts on raising as much cash as possible for the chosen causes,” said Jackie.

“Our aim this year is to raise £2,000 in total, and we’ve already taken part in several events so far that have made a real contribution towards our target.”

Earlier this year, Dyke Yaxley handed a cheque to the Severn Hospice for just over £3,100, after smashing their previous fund-raising target.

The money was raised through a variety of events including a girls v boys netball match, a quiz night, Question of Sport night, poker night, cake sale, cricket evening auction, and a Christmas card donation board.

Our latest success follows hot on the heels of another great effort last year when the charity team donated £3,700 to the Down’s Syndrome Association.

“We always get so much support for our efforts and we’d like to thank everyone who has dug deep so far this year to help raise cash for this year’s charities,” said Jackie.
