Managers get expert advice

Human Resources specialists at a Shrewsbury firm have launched an exciting new training programme to help managers develop their skills.

The HR and Training Division at Dyke Yaxley Chartered Accountants in Old Potts Way, has unveiled the programme of workshops aimed at local businesses who want to develop employees with management potential within their companies.

The half and full-day courses begin in November and include:

Leadership, managing change and successful application; effective communication and teamwork; improving your sales performance; public speaking and presentation skills; planning, prioritising, delegation and time management; internal and external customer service; and sucessful mentoring.

Dyke Yaxley HR Manager, Keith Higgins, said flexibility was the key to the programme and companies could choose to enrol managers on the year-long structured programme, or select individual courses to target specific needs.

“We recognise that many companies do not have the in-house resources to develop and deliver their own programmes, but that they would welcome the chance to receive expert help,” said Keith.

“So we have created our development programme to assist managers and future managers to develop their management potential and to give them the necessary skills to carry out their role.

“The programme has been specificially developed for newly-appointed managers and supervisors with potential.  It can also act as a refresher for people who have been in management positions for a while who want to sharpen their skills.”

The workshops will be held either at Dyke Yaxley’s town centre offices in Shrewsbury or at an individual company’s premises.

Keith said each workshop would be supported with the relevant training material so delegates could refer to it regularly when they returned to their own workplace.
