Shropshire businesses must prepare carefully for the new tax year in order to ensure they’re operating as efficiently as possible…
Think outside the box – that’s the message for businesses
Our Dyke Yaxley Corporate Director, Mark Bramall, helped promote and present at an event that attracted over 60 business professionals from across the county.
Crowdfunding and peer to peer lending were the topics on offer at the latest Shropshire Business Partnership breakfast meeting at the Greenhous Meadow, in Shrewsbury.
Mark supported Paul Bennett from Aaron and Partners LLP, who chaired the event, and guest speakers included Chris Jones from Select Business Finance, Mark Pembleton from Shropshire Council, and Fay Easton from Shropshire Enterprise Partnership.
At the event, Mark called on the audience to be more creative in their approach to business finance.
“The majority of business funding is still arranged through the Banks but sometimes it is not always possible – there are now creative alternatives available including crowdfunding, peer to peer, tax breaks and business support grants,” said Mark.
Chris Jones, who specialises in helping SMEs to raise finance, said: “Several models of crowdfunding are now available and this form of investing or seeking investment is gaining popularity due to its online simplicity, quick response times and attractive interest rates.”
Mark Pembleton explained how the Business Enterprise Fund and Business Capital Grant Scheme with match-funded grants of up to £10,000 was available for qualifying businesses. And for new businesses, Fay Easton introduced a new scheme of start-up loans with a 6% interest rate aimed at entrepreneurs.
The Shropshire Business Partnership is an independent network of business professionals, supported by Shropshire Council. SBP is free to join and is run for the benefit of its members.
